Printing

The labels come out the wrong size.

Print at 100 % or Actual Size, with Fit to Page, Scale to Fit and any automatic resizing turned off. Then measure the 50 mm line at the bottom of the sheet with a ruler. If it is not exactly 50 mm, the printer resized the page and every label on it is wrong by the same proportion. RackRibbon cannot see or control your printer, which is why the line is there.

Can it print one continuous strip?

Not on standard paper. A strip longer than the printable width comes out as ordered, separately cut pieces, and the break always falls between two whole ports. Each piece says which ports it covers and how wide it is.

Does it work with my label printer?

There is no printer integration, no driver and no continuous-media support. RackRibbon produces a PDF and you print it however you normally would.

Will it fit my panel?

That depends on your measurements and your printer, and the app cannot check either. Measure the strip yourself, print at 100 %, check the 50 mm line, and test one piece before cutting the rest.

Measurements

Where do I find my panel's dimensions?

You measure them. There is no manufacturer list and no template library, so nothing is looked up and nothing is assumed about your hardware.

My measurement was refused.

Width is 10–1000 mm, height is 4–30 mm, ports are 1–96, and a group gap is 0–50 mm. Values outside those are refused rather than quietly clamped, so what you typed is never silently changed.

It will not accept my decimal point.

Type the decimal mark your iPhone's region uses, and nothing else: no thousands separator, no unit symbol, no spaces. The message names the mark it expects.

I switched to inches and back. Did my strip change?

No. Measurements are stored in millimetres and the unit only changes what you read. A 432 mm strip is still exactly 432 mm after any number of switches.

What is a group gap?

Physical space in the strip after a given port, for panels grouped in eights or twelves. The gap belongs to the boundary, so moving labels around does not drag it along, and the gap's space comes out of the strip you measured — which makes every port slightly narrower.

Labels

A label will not fit and I cannot export.

The whole sheet prints at one size, the largest between 9 and 6 pt that fits every label. If a label still will not fit at 6 pt, the app names every offending port and links straight to it. Shorten the label, widen the strip, or use fewer ports. Nothing is shrunk further, cut short, wrapped onto a second line or replaced.

My text prints as a box, or is refused.

A character the fonts on your iPhone have no glyph for, and colour emoji, are refused by name rather than printed as a placeholder. Accented Latin, Greek, Cyrillic, Arabic and CJK text is shaped properly and prints.

Fill port numbers overwrote a label.

It asks first and lists exactly which labels it would replace. Cancelling changes nothing. There is no undo afterwards, so the list in the confirmation is the thing to read.

I reduced the port count and lost work.

Reducing the count names the labelled ports and the gaps it would remove before it does anything, and cancelling changes nothing.

Projects and the PDF

The Share button disappeared.

That is deliberate. The sheet you reviewed is withdrawn as soon as you change anything, so you cannot send a PDF that no longer matches the project. Review again and it comes back. Reopening the app never restores a ready-to-share PDF either.

The app says a project was not saved.

Then it was not saved, and your edits are still on screen. That message is never shown for a save that worked. Free some space on the device and try again.

A project will not open and the app says the file was moved aside.

The file could not be trusted, so it was moved aside intact rather than rewritten or deleted. Nothing was overwritten. Start a new project, and write to us with the message you saw.

Is my work backed up?

Not by RackRibbon. Projects live on the phone. Your iPhone's device or iCloud backups may include them depending on your backup settings, but the app runs no sync or backup of its own and cannot promise a restore.

Is there an iPad or Mac version, or another language?

No. It is an iPhone app with an English interface. Port text can be in other scripts; that is label content, not a translated app.

Refunds

Purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds go through Apple rather than through us: Request a refund for apps or content. Tell us what went wrong as well, so it can be fixed.
